Caesar Cardini made this salad in 1924. He ran a restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico. It was a busy July 4th holiday. The kitchen ran out of many foods. Cardini used only what he had left. He mixed the salad right at the table. This made the meal a fun show.

Some people say his brother helped him. Others say his staff made it too. One story says it was once called Aviator Salad. This was for pilots who flew nearby. Today, many people make this salad at home. Some people even add grilled chicken on top.

Many companies sell Caesar dressing in bottles. You can find it in many stores. It is a very popular dish to eat.
