His family ran to meet him at the air base. His daughter, Lorrie, was fifteen years old. She ran with her arms stretched out wide. People called her "The Jumper" because she was so excited. A photographer named Sal Veder took the picture. He saw the family sprinting and started to click his camera. He even rushed to a washroom to develop the film quickly. The photo won the Pulitzer Prize. This is a very big award for news photos. The image shows a very happy moment for the family. But the story had a sad side too. Robert learned his marriage was over just before he arrived. He and his wife divorced in 1974. Still, the photo remains a famous part of history. It shows a moment of great feeling during a hard war.
