He lived in a town called Drohobycz. He taught art and drawing to students there. Bruno had a very big imagination. He wrote stories that felt like dreams. One of his most famous books is called "The Cinnamon Shops." In many places, it is known as "The Street of Crocodiles." He also wrote a book called "Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass." Bruno even drew pictures to go with his stories. In 1938, he won a big prize called the Golden Laurel.

Hard times came during World War II. Bruno was forced to live in a ghetto. A ghetto is a part of a city for certain groups of people. In 1942, Bruno was killed by a German officer while walking home. He was carrying a loaf of bread at the time. Many of his stories and his last novel were lost during this time. Still, people still study his work. They make films and plays based on his books. His art helps us see the world in a new way.
