Browsing is a way that some animals eat.

They eat leaves, soft shoots, and fruit. They usually eat woody plants like shrubs. This is not the same as grazing. Grazers like sheep eat mainly grass. Browsers like goats eat things that are not grass.

Sometimes, too many animals eat in one place. This is called overbrowsing. If there are too many animals, they might eat all the leaves they can reach. This creates a browse line. This is a level where you see almost no leaves left.

Overbrowsing can hurt the forest. It can stop young plants from growing tall. If young plants cannot grow, new trees will not form. This can change the whole home for other animals. Small bugs and birds may lose their places to live.
