They lived in Yorkshire, England, in the 1800s. The family included a father named Patrick and a mother named Maria. They had six children. Sadly, two of the older daughters died when they were very young.

The three surviving sisters were Charlotte, Emily, and Anne. They also had a brother named Branwell. As children, they loved to play and tell stories. They even made up their own imaginary worlds. Later, they wrote complex stories together. The sisters became famous poets and novelists. To keep their work private, they used male names. Charlotte used Currer Bell. Emily used Ellis Bell. Anne used Acton Bell.

Their books are still loved today. Charlotte wrote Jane Eyre. Emily wrote Wuthering Heights. Anne wrote Agnes Grey. Many people visit their old home in Haworth. It is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum.
