He used his power to fight against corruption in the government.
His work against corruption made him many enemies at court. In the year 523, he was accused of treason. He was sent to prison in Pavia. While he was waiting for his trial, he wrote a famous book. It is called *On the Consolation of Philosophy*. This book is a dialogue about finding hope during hard times. Boethius was executed in the year 524. Many people today still remember his great ideas.
