This tree grows in the north. It likes cold places. It does not like heat. It can grow in rocky soil. It can also grow in flat lands.

These trees are very helpful. They are often the first to grow after a fire. Their tiny seeds blow in the wind. The wind carries them to new spots.

Many animals love this tree. Moose eat the bark in winter. Birds eat the tiny seeds. Small animals also like the seeds.

In the fall, the leaves turn bright yellow. The leaves have sharp teeth on the edges. It is a beautiful tree to see.
