Behavioural sciences

life science Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Behavioral science is a way to study how living things act. Most scientists in this field focus on people. They want to know why we do what we do. This field sits between many other sciences. It uses ideas from biology and psychology.

Early scientists used special tools to watch how animals learned. B.F. Skinner made a box to measure how animals act. Ivan Pavlov studied how dogs learn to link things together. Later, scientists found ways to look inside the brain. They used fMRI, which is a tool that maps brain activity. This lets them see the brain without surgery.

Today, people use these facts in many ways. Companies study how people shop for goods. This is called consumer behavior. Businesses also study how to lead workers well. This is called organizational behavior. Scientists can even use these ideas to help people stay healthy. They use small nudges to help people make good choices. New tools like artificial intelligence will help in the future. They will help scientists find even more patterns in how we act.
