An autopsy is a way doctors study a body.

They do this to find the cause of death. A special doctor called a pathologist does this work. They may look for sickness or injury.

There are a few different ways to do an autopsy. A forensic autopsy is used for legal reasons. This helps solve crimes by looking for clues. A clinical autopsy helps doctors learn about diseases. This can help keep other people safe. Some students use autopsies for academic study. This helps them learn how the body works.

Doctors can also use a virtual autopsy. This uses special machines like an MRI to see inside. It lets them look at the body without cutting it. This is a safe way to find answers. In some cases, doctors must sew the body back together. This is done after they finish their study. Autopsies have helped us find many new diseases.
