Arts journalism

technology Maturity 7-9 Next article →

Arts journalism is a way to report on art. Writers talk about many things. They write about films and music. They also write about books and buildings. This field is sometimes called cultural journalism. This is because writers cover many cultural events. They may also talk about how things look. This is called aesthetics.

Many writers have a background in the arts. Some people study art history in school. Others may be artists themselves. They can write for print or online. Some people listen to art news on the radio. You can also see it on TV.

Writing about art is very old. A journal called L'artiste started in 1831. It gave views on art shows. Today, technology helps us see more art. People can upload images right away. They can even watch live videos of shows.

Arts journalism can change what we focus on. A study looked at many newspapers. It found more news about pop culture. This was true in American papers. Since the year 2000, things have changed. There are fewer full-time critics now. Writers now look at how art gets money.
