Sir Arthur Keith was a famous British scientist. He studied anatomy, which is the study of body parts. He also studied how humans changed over time.

Keith made a big discovery in 1906. He found the sinoatrial node. This is the tiny part of the heart that makes it beat. He worked at the Royal College of Surgeons. There, he looked at many old fossils.

Keith had many ideas that were wrong. He believed humans first came from Europe. He also held racist views. He thought some groups of people were better than others. These ideas are not accepted by scientists today.

He also believed in the Piltdown Man. This was a set of fossils that people thought were very old. Later, people found out it was a fake. Keith believed it was real for a long time. He only admitted it was a trick near the end of his life.

Keith lived a long life. He died in 1955. He wrote many books about science and history.
