It sits on a long piece of land. This land is shaped like the heel of a boot. To the east, the Adriatic Sea touches the coast. To the south, it meets the Gulf of Taranto.

The land is mostly flat with some gentle hills. In the north, there are the Daunian Mountains. The highest point is Monte Cornacchia. Apulia has two big national parks. These are the Alta Murgia and Gargano parks.

Summers are hot, dry, and sunny. Winters are mild and rainy. Sometimes it even snows on the coast! Winds from the sea can change the weather fast. A wind from North Africa can bring red dust from the Sahara Desert.

Many people live here. They work in many ways. Some make shoes or furniture. Others work with food or cars. The region is also famous for olive oil.
