He worked for four different kings. Paré was a pioneer, which means he was a leader in new ideas. He helped many soldiers on the battlefield.

He found a better way to treat wounds. Before him, doctors used boiling oil. This caused much pain. Paré tried a mix of egg yolk, oil, and turpentine. The turpentine acted as an antiseptic. This is a substance that helps stop germs. The soldiers healed much better with this mix.

Paré also made new tools. He used ligatures, or small threads, to tie off blood vessels. This helped stop bleeding during surgery. He even made artificial eyes from gold and glass. He also made fake limbs for people.

He studied how the body works. He wrote about how the brain causes phantom pain. This is when a person feels a limb that is no longer there. Paré also studied how to help babies be born safely. His work helped start modern forensic pathology. This is the study of how the body changes after death.
