Alan Tam is a famous singer and actor from Hong Kong. He played a big part in making Cantopop music popular during the 1980s. He is best known for singing romantic ballads with modern sounds.

These songs helped shape the music scene for many people. He has released 115 solo albums throughout his long career. By 2013, he had sold over 35 million records worldwide. He even holds a record for giving the most solo concerts in Hong Kong.

Alan's journey into music started when he was in secondary school. He formed a band called The Wynners with his friends. They won first prize in an amateur singing contest. This helped them start working on TV shows.

The band performed mostly in English. Later, Alan became a solo singer in 1979. His first solo album was named "Naughty Boy." He later found great success with songs like "Love in Autumn" in 1984.

Alan has a very rich history in the arts. His father, Tam Kong-pak, was a football player for the Republic of China national team. This team played in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.
