Ahmad Tejan Kabbah was a leader from Sierra Leone. He was born in 1932. He studied economics and law in the United Kingdom. For many years, he worked for the United Nations. He helped many people in Africa.

In 1996, Kabbah won a big election. He became the president of his country. But his time in office was hard. A civil war was happening. This war was fought against a group called the RUF. In 1997, the military took over. Kabbah had to leave his country for a short time.

Kabbah worked hard to return to power. Other countries helped him. Groups like ECOWAS and the United Nations sent support. Kabbah wanted to stop the fighting. He signed peace deals with the rebel leader, Foday Sankoh. He also asked for help from the British government.

Many soldiers from other lands came to help. They helped keep order and stop the rebels. In 2002, Kabbah said the war was finally over. People celebrated in the streets. Kabbah won another election later that year. He served as president until 2007.
