In America, Thomas Jefferson was a famous leader. He believed farmers were the most important citizens. He wanted many people to own their own land. He did not want cities to have too much power.

Some people use agrarianism to fight for fairness. In Mexico, Emiliano Zapata fought for poor farmers.

He wanted to give land back to the people who worked it. Later, a group called the Zapatistas kept his ideas alive. In China, a leader named Mao Zedong also focused on farmers. He made people work in large groups called communes. He wanted them to grow food and make steel together. However, these changes caused many problems.
