How is today's weather different from climate?

Reading level 3 of 5 · IndependentChange
1 · Shorter sentences5 · More detail

Climate includes more than an average temperature. It also describes patterns of rainfall, seasonal differences, and the range of conditions a place experiences. Scientists often use thirty-year periods to describe typical conditions. One unusually hot or cold day cannot by itself describe that long-term pattern.
