Many people call him the "Father of American Football." He played the game at Yale College. He also coached the Yale teams. His teams won many games and became national champions.

Camp helped change how football is played. He made the line of scrimmage. This is where teams line up to start a play. He also created the system of downs. He helped change the number of players from 15 to 11. These ideas made the game look like it does today.

Camp was also a busy writer. He wrote nearly 30 books about sports. He wrote many articles for magazines and newspapers. He even picked an "All-American" team every year. This was a list of the best players.

He helped people stay fit too. He made a set of twelve simple exercises. He called this the "Daily Dozen." The Army and the Navy used his plan. Camp died in 1925. His work changed sports forever.
