Vilmos Zsigmond was a famous cinematographer. A cinematographer is the person who manages the camera for a movie. He helped change how films looked in America.

Zsigmond was born in Hungary. He loved photography. He even taught himself how to use a camera. He worked in a factory to pay for his tools. Later, he and a friend filmed a revolution in his home country. They hid a camera in a shopping bag to take the footage. They then moved to the United States.

In Hollywood, he worked with many great directors. He worked with Steven Spielberg on the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This film won him an Academy Award.
