Many people lived in the city.

Two small towns joined to make it. This made the city much larger. It was the biggest city then.

Water flowed through the city in paths. These paths helped people trade goods. Some called it a city in the sand.

People built big homes for their gods. One god was named Inanna.

They built many tall temples.

Later, the river moved to a new spot. This made it hard to live there. The city was left behind.
