It sits in the center of the country. It is part of the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. This park also has a place called Kata Tjuta nearby.

The rock looks like it changes color. It glows red at dawn and sunset. This happens because of iron in the rock.

The rock is very tall. Most of it sits under the ground.

The Aṉangu people are the traditional owners of this land. To them, Uluru is a sacred place. It is part of their Dreamtime stories.

You can find old paintings and caves near the rock. There are also many waterholes and springs.

Many tourists visit the area to see the landmark. They can stay in the town of Yulara. For a long time, people could climb to the top. This was done with the help of a metal chain. Now, climbing is not allowed. The Aṉangu asked for this to respect their culture.
