Tuple

math Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Imagine making a list of numbers.

In math, this list is called a tuple.

The order of the numbers is very important.

If you change the order, the list changes too.

You can have a list with just one number.

We call that a singleton.

A list with two numbers is an ordered pair.

A list with three numbers is a triple.

Some lists have no numbers at all.

We call that an empty tuple.

Tuples can also hold many different things.

They do not have to be just numbers.

Math uses these lists to keep things in order.
