Tunde King was a famous musician from Nigeria. He is known as the founder of Jùjú music. This style began in the 1920s in Lagos. It started in a mechanic shop. A group of men gathered there to make music. They used instruments like guitars and hand drums. They also used shakers. This early music was called Palm Wine music. It mixed Yoruba folk music with sounds from Brazil and Cuba.

Tunde King led a small band. He played the guitar-banjo and sang. One band member played the sekere, which is a gourd rattle. Another played the tambourine. The name "Jùjú" came from a special way of playing. A drummer would throw his tambourine into the air. He would catch it with a flashy style. People used the Yoruba word for "throw" to name the music.

King made over 30 records. He sang about daily life and big events. Some songs spoke about how life felt in Nigeria. His music helped many other artists. Famous stars like King Sunny Adé played later styles of Jùjú. Tunde King's work changed Nigerian music forever.
