Travis started his career on motorcycles very young. He debuted in the AMA Motocross Championship in late 1999. At only 16 years old, he won a national title in 2000. He was the youngest person ever to do that. Later, he moved to the 125cc East Coast title in 2001. He even trained with his friend Kevin Windham. In 2023, he joined the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.

Travis is also a very successful car driver. He is a four-time Rally America champion. He was the youngest American rally champion ever. He also competes in NASCAR and Global RallyCross. In 2022, he became a world champion in Class 1 World Powerboat Championship. He won this title alongside racer Steve Curtis.

He earned a score of 99.00 points during that run. He also won five gold medals at the Gravity Games. In 2006, he made history during an X Games competition. He became the first person to land a double backflip. This stunt earned him a score of 98.60 points.

Pastrana is also an elite rally driver. He has won four Rally America championships. He was the youngest American to become a rally champion. In 2004, he drove for the Subaru-backed Vermont SportsCar team. He later led the Subaru Rally Team USA starting in 2006. He won the first rally car gold medal at the X Games. This victory happened in August 2006. He beat driver Colin McRae by only 0.53 seconds.

His driving skills extend to many other types of vehicles. Pastrana has competed in NASCAR events. These include the Nationwide Series and the Truck Series. He also competes in Stadium Super Trucks. In 2022, he reached a new milestone in water racing. He became a world champion in the Class 1 World Powerboat Championship. He achieved this title alongside British racer Steve Curtis.

He competed in the Motocross of Nations in 2018. He did this alongside teammates Kevin Windham and Ryan Sipes. They aimed to raise money and awareness for Puerto Rico. This effort followed Hurricane Maria in 2017.

Throughout his career, Pastrana has faced many physical challenges. He has suffered several injuries from high-speed crashes. In 2004, a crash caused a concussion. In 2011, he broke his foot and ankle. This injury forced him to use a special hand-controlled device. He had to relearn how to drive his rally car. Despite these setbacks, he continues to compete at a high level. He is scheduled for the 2025 Race of Champions in Australia. His career shows a deep commitment to action sports. He continues to push the limits of what is possible.
