Toxaphene

physical science Maturity 5-7 climate Next article →

This article covers sensitive topics: climate. Parents can manage visibility in Parental Controls.

A long time ago, people used a spray called toxaphene. It was a yellow, waxy solid. It helped cotton plants grow by killing bugs.

This spray was not safe. It can stay in the soil for many years. It can even travel far through the air.

It can be bad for animals and people. It can hurt the body if it gets inside. This happens through food or water.

Because it is harmful, the law changed. The United States stopped using it in 1990. Many other lands have banned it too.

We now work to keep our earth clean and safe.
