The lower jaw had three incisors, one canine, and seven or eight postcanines on each side. Thrinaxodon was also one of the first cynodonts to have replacement teeth. This means new teeth grew in to take the place of old ones. You can see tiny pits in the jaw where these new teeth grew.

Finally, Thrinaxodon grew at a very high speed.

This is a type of hearing similar to that found in extant mammals. The ear's origin is linked to a deep recess near the fenestra ovalis. It was a feature that remained conserved through the late Cynodontia.
