Avery had a very special style. His cartoons were fast and silly. They used visual gags, which are funny things people see. He liked to make characters do things that are impossible in real life.

Avery was also a voice actor. He sometimes gave voices to his characters. He even used his own loud belly laugh in his films. He worked hard to make the timing of every joke perfect. He would even add or cut parts of a film to make a joke land well. His work changed how people made cartoons forever.
