A T-top is a special car roof.

It has a solid bar in the middle. This bar runs from one part of the car to the next. On each side of the bar, there is a panel. You can take these panels off. This lets you feel the air while you drive.

Most panels are made of safety glass. This is glass made to be strong. Some panels are made of acrylic, which is a type of plastic. They can be black or the same color as the car.

A man named Gordon Buehrig made a patent for this in 1951. He owned the legal right to the idea. A car called the Tasco used it first in 1948. The 1968 Chevrolet Corvette was the first U.S. car to sell with this roof. This roof made the car very popular. People bought the coupe more than the convertible. Because of this, the Corvette convertible was stopped after 1975. It did not come back until 1986. Later cars used a targa top instead of a T-top.
