Stephen E. Ambrose was a famous American historian. He was a teacher for many years.

Ambrose wrote a lot about World War II. He wrote about leaders like Dwight D. Eisenhower. He also wrote about Richard Nixon. He liked to tell stories about soldiers. He started the Eisenhower Center to help people. This center collected stories from veterans. They gathered more than 1,200 oral histories.

These stories helped people learn about the war.
