Sinn Sisamouth was a famous singer from Cambodia. People called him the "King of Khmer Music." He was a very busy artist. He wrote and sang more than one thousand songs. Some say he made one song every single day!

He loved many kinds of music. He started with traditional Khmer music. Later, he mixed in new sounds. He used rock and roll and soul music. He even sang bossa nova and Latin jazz. His music had a unique sound. It blended Khmer styles with Western beats. He often sang with other stars. He sang many duets with a singer named Ros Serey Sothea. He helped her become a famous star, too.

Sisamouth worked hard to protect his voice. He did not smoke or drink alcohol. He also stayed away from spicy foods. This helped him keep his singing voice strong.

His life changed during a hard time in Cambodia. A group called the Khmer Rouge took control. Many of his songs were lost or destroyed then. We do not know exactly how he died. However, we know he died during that time. People still honor his great talent today.
