A boy named Fulin became a great leader. He was the Shunzhi Emperor. 

In 1644, the young emperor moved to Beijing. 
After Dorgon died in 1650, the emperor ruled by himself. He tried to stop bad leaders from taking money. He also fought to keep his land safe from enemies. By 1661, his armies had won many battles.
Sadly, the emperor died at age 22. He died from smallpox. This was a sickness that many people caught. His third son became the next emperor. His name was the Kangxi Emperor. He ruled for sixty years.
The Shunzhi Emperor was a leader who helped change the history of China. 
Becoming an emperor is a very big job for a young person. 
Dorgon held most of the power for many years. 
After Dorgon died in 1650, the Shunzhi Emperor began to rule on his own. 
Even though he was a strong leader, his life ended quite early. 
The Shunzhi Emperor was a pivotal leader of the Qing dynasty. 
Fulin's rise to power happened during a time of great uncertainty. 
During the early years, Dorgon held almost all political power. 
Conquering a new land requires strict rules and discipline. 
After Dorgon died on the last day of 1650, things changed. The Shunzhi Emperor finally began to rule personally. 
By 1661, the Qing military had achieved major victories. They defeated the last of the significant Ming resistance. These enemies included Koxinga and the Prince of Gui. Both of these leaders would die the following year. However, the emperor's own life was cut short. 
Though his reign was short, his legacy was long. The emperor was succeeded by his third son. This son became the Kangxi Emperor.
