Share taxis often follow a set route. Some may wait until every seat is full. Then, the taxi starts the trip. Drivers can stop anywhere. This lets people get on or off easily.

Many people use share taxis in big cities. They are common in places like Africa and Asia. In Ghana, people call them tro tro.

A tro tro has a driver and a mate. The mate is a person who collects money. In Ethiopia, the driver has a weyala. This person also collects fares. In Egypt, these taxis are called micro-buses. They are often large vans. Some share taxis are run by big companies. Others are run by one person. In some cities, groups called syndicates manage the routes. They may set the prices or manage the stops.
