She was known for two special dances. The first was her fan dance. She used large ostrich-feather fans to dance. She moved them to hide her body. This made her look like a winged bird. She often danced to music called "Clair de Lune."

Her second dance used bubbles. She made this dance to help with the wind when she worked outside.

Sally was also a trained pilot. She had her own pilot's license. She often flew herself to her stage shows. In 1939, she broke a speed record for a light plane. She flew from San Francisco to Reno in under two hours.

Her career lasted for more than forty years. She worked on stage, in films, and on TV. She even worked with famous actors like Humphrey Bogart. People still talk about her today. Some football coaches even named a play after her. They did this because her dance used tricks to hide things. Her work was part of a style called burlesque, which is a type of stage show.
