After that, they are reprocessed into new materials for making products. Some things can become the exact same thing again. For example, old office paper can become new office paper.

The writer Plato spoke about this in the fourth century BC. In the year 1031, Japanese shops sold paper that was repulped. In Britain, workers called "dustmen" collected ash from fires. They used this ash to help make bricks. In 1813, Benjamin Law found a way to turn rags into wool. This was called "shoddy" and was made in Yorkshire. This industry lasted until at least 1914.
