Laws help people be fair.

Sometimes, people must pay money. They do this even without a plan. This rule comes from old Roman law. It says no one should get rich from another's loss. A judge can act like a contract exists. This makes a person pay what is fair. It is not a real promise. The law just makes it happen. This helps fix things when they are not right.

It keeps things fair for everyone.
