Peter Parler was a famous master builder and sculptor from the Middle Ages.
After learning from his father, Peter traveled to many places. He worked as a wandering journeyman to learn new skills. He visited cities like Cologne and Strasbourg to study building methods. In Strasbourg, he saw how people built great cathedrals. He likely learned many secrets of Gothic architecture there. While in Cologne, he met and married a woman named Druda. They had four children together. Two of his sons also grew up to be famous master builders. This shows how much skill was passed down through his family.

In Prague, Peter worked on the massive St. Vitus Cathedral.
Peter's ideas changed how people built things across Europe. His family's work is often called the "Parler style." This style spread to many places like Vienna and Denmark. Even the huge Seville Cathedral in Spain shows his influence. Some of its designs look very much like his work at St. Vitus. Peter lived a long and busy life in Prague. He became a wealthy man and a citizen of the city. When he died in 1399, he was buried in the cathedral he helped build.
