Paralysis

life science Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Some people cannot move their muscles. This can happen to parts of the body. It can also happen to the whole body. This is called paralysis.

It often happens when the nerves are hurt. The nerves are like wires that tell muscles to move. If the wires break, the muscles do not work. This can happen from a bad fall.

Some animals use this too. A wasp can make a bug stop moving. This helps the wasp feed its babies. Some fish have a poison that stops movement.

It can also happen for a short time. This happens when you sleep.

It is very interesting how our bodies work.
