The Rangkui River flows right through the city. This river splits the city into two parts. It flows into the Baturusa River. That river leads to the South China Sea. Because of the rivers, the city can flood when it rains a lot.

The land is often hilly. Some parts of the city have forests and swamps. Many people there work with plants and fish. They grow things like pepper and coconut.
