This includes their culture and their beliefs. They believe in a great force named Chukwu. All things come from Chukwu. But people do not build shrines for Chukwu. Instead, they work with other spirits and gods. These spirits act as helpers.

Some spirits represent nature. People visit shrines in forests or by roads. Priests called Dibia help people talk to these spirits.

Every person has a special guardian called a Chi.

Your Chi is part of your fate. It stays with you from birth until death. Some people build small shrines at home for their Chi. These shrines might even be near a tree.

Igbo people also honor their ancestors. These are family members who have died. They live in a spirit world. People can still reach out to them. Today, these beliefs are part of big festivals. They use music and dance to celebrate. These traditions are still very strong in many villages.
