One famous book is for children. It is called The Magic Pudding.

Norman had a very full day. He woke up early to paint. In the morning, he worked in his etching studio. An etching is a type of print made from a metal plate. In the afternoon, he made sculptures in his garden.

At night, he wrote stories. He even liked to build model ships. He used melted lead from paint tubes to make small figures.

Some people found his art shocking. He often drew people without clothes. This caused many arguments. Some of his books were even banned. In 1940, he sent crates of art to the U.S. A train fire led to his art being burned by officials. He did not let this stop him. He simply said he would make more.
