Some music is very old. It started in royal centers 800 years ago. Classical music uses three main groups. The first is called Piphat. It uses xylophones and drums. It can sound like dancing dragons.

The second group is Khrueang sai. This group uses many string instruments. It is good for playing inside. The third group is Mahori. Women often played this in royal courts. It uses soft silk strings.
