Mogilev has a very long history. It was first mentioned in records in 1267. For a long time, it was a center for trade. People used the city to move goods.

The city has many special landmarks. One is the Ratuša. This is a town hall built in the 1600s. It has a grand tower. Another is the St. Stanisław's Catholic Cathedral. It was built between 1738 and 1752. It has beautiful art on the walls.

There were hard times in the city's past. During World War II, German forces took control. Many Jewish people were killed during this time. The city was later freed by the Red Army in 1944.

Today, Mogilev is a place for work. It has many large factories. These plants make cars, tractors, and cranes. The city also has an airport and a port on the river.
