It is made from cocoa, sugar, and milk. It is the most popular kind of chocolate in the world. People eat it in many different bars and candies.

Long ago, chocolate was a drink. In 1687, a man named Hans Sloane brought a milk chocolate drink to London. It came from Jamaica. Later, people tried to make solid milk chocolate. These early tries were often an oily mess. This happened because milk and cocoa fat do not mix well.

In 1875, a Swiss inventor named Daniel Peter found a way.

He mixed cocoa with condensed milk. This helped make the first milk chocolate bars. A few years later, he launched a brand called Gala. He named it after a Greek word for milk.

Another man, Rodolphe Lindt, made a tool called a conche. This tool made the chocolate much smoother.

Today, many places love milk chocolate. It is very popular in the United States and Europe. More people are eating it in China and Latin America too.
