Some facts help us find things. They tell us a book's name. They show who wrote it. This helps you find what you need.

This is called metadata. It is data about other data. It describes things to help us use them. It can tell us when a file was made.

Metadata can show how things are put together. It can show how pages form chapters. It also shows who can use a file.

It can even help us find web pages. It can list the names of singers on a disc. This makes finding things much easier.

Metadata is like a label for information. It helps us keep things in order.
