To the west is the Aegean Region. To the north is Central Anatolia. To the east is Southeastern Anatolia. Syria is also to the southeast.

This area is very mountainous. The Toros Mountains run from west to east. They cover most of the region. Another chain is the Amonos Mountains. These run north to south in the east. Many mountains meet the sea. Some flat lands sit near the coast. These are called coastal plains. Three rivers made the big Çukurova plain. These rivers are the Berdan, Seyhan, and Ceyhan.

There are also many lakes. Lake Beyşehir and Lake Eğirdir are in the northwest. The weather changes depending on where you are. The coast has hot, dry summers. It has mild and wet winters. The inside of the region is different. It has hot, dry summers too. But the winters there are cold and snowy. Antalya is the largest city here. Other big cities are Adana and Mersin.
