Many Koreans were not happy. They wanted to be free.

In 1919, people held big protests. They read a paper about freedom.

This happened in a park and a restaurant.

Many people joined the protests. They wanted a fair life. The protests were mostly peaceful.

Japan tried to stop the protests. This made things very hard for Koreans. But the movement did not stop.
