Majid Michel is a prominent Ghanaian actor, model, and television personality. He is also known as an evangelist and a humanitarian. Born on September 22, 1980, in Cantonments, he grew up in the capital city of Accra. His family background includes a Lebanese father and a Ghanaian mother. Michel grew up in a large household with nine siblings. He attended St. Theresa's Primary School and later the Mfantsipim School. This school is notable for its famous alumni, including former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Michel discovered his talent for performing during his secondary school years. He joined the school's Drama Club to explore theater. During a performance on Emancipation Day in Cape Coast, Ghana, he won a Best Actor Award. Before his professional acting career began, he worked as a model. He has shared that his start was not easy. He failed to get a role in his first film audition due to poor performance. However, his passion for acting encouraged him to continue working in the industry.

His professional acting career gained momentum through television and film. His first major starring role was in the television serial drama, "Things We Do for Love." In this series, he portrayed a young Lebanese man working in a hotel. He later starred in the movie "Divine Love" as the male lead. This film was a major success for him and his co-stars. It helped make Michel and actors like Jackie Aygemang and Van Vicker household names in Ghana. In 2008, he starred in "Agony of the Christ," which earned seven Africa Movie Academy Award nominations.

Michel became a major figure in Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry. This occurred because of a partnership between directors Frank Rajah Arase and Abdul Salam Mumuni. This agreement allowed Ghanaian actors to enter the mainstream Nigerian market. Michel made his Nollywood debut in the 2009 romantic drama, "Emerald." He worked alongside the famous actress Genevieve Nnaji. While some critics gave "Emerald" mixed reviews, Michel received praise for his performance. He later starred in "Silent Scandals," which received positive reviews for its production quality.

His career included periods of both great success and significant challenge. In 2010, Michel faced controversy and received death threats from some Nigerian actors. These actors allegedly felt he was taking too many roles. Because of this, he took a break from Nollywood and returned to Ghana. He worked on Ghanaian films such as "4 Play" and "4 Play Reloaded." In 2012, he played a tyrant in the war film "Somewhere in Africa." Although critics were not fond of the film, Michel won his first Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor.

His success helped him return to the Nigerian film scene with even more strength. In 2014, he co-starred in the blockbuster film "30 Days in Atlanta." The Nigerian Cinema Exhibition Coalition listed him as one of the highest box office draws that year. Other 2014 projects included "Knocking on Heaven's Door" and "Being Mrs Elliot," which were both successful. By 2017, Michel disclosed details about his professional earnings. He stated that he earned at least $15,000 per film, and sometimes as much as $35,000.

Beyond acting, Michel is deeply involved in his religious life as a born-again Christian. He serves as an evangelist and has performed as a guest minister at local churches. His faith has influenced his professional choices and personal boundaries. For example, he announced in 2017 that he would no longer take roles requiring him to kiss on set. He also uses his platform to share religious messages, such as a 2017 Easter sermon. In that sermon, he spoke about using grace to overcome hate, pride, and war. Michel is married and has three children, often citing his wife as a key part of his success.
