Madrigal

arts Maturity 9-11 Next article →

A madrigal is a special kind of song.

People sing these songs using only their voices. They do not use any instruments.

The music changes with the words. If a word means a smile, the notes might sound fast.

This is called word-painting. It helps show feelings like joy or sadness.

Most songs use the same music for every verse. But madrigals use new music for each part. This makes the song follow the poem closely.

Many people loved to sing them in small groups. It was a fun way to spend time with friends.
