Lytton went to Cambridge University. He met many close friends there. This group became known as the Bloomsbury Group. Lytton wrote books about famous people from the past. He used wit and humor to make them feel real. He also looked at how they felt inside.

His most famous book was called Eminent Victorians. It was published in 1918. Another book, Queen Victoria, won a special prize. These books changed how people write biographies. A biography is a book about a person's life. Lytton's way of writing made history feel new. He lived in a house called Ham Spray House. He stayed there for most of his adult life. Lytton died in 1932 at age 51. He had stomach cancer.
