LulzSec was a group of computer hackers. They were called grey hat hackers. This means they did not hack for money. Instead, they did it to have fun. They wanted to cause mayhem. They often made jokes after their attacks. One of their main goals was to show security flaws. They found websites that were not safe. Then, they shared usernames and passwords online. They said this helped people. It let users change their passwords before bad people used them.

LulzSec attacked many big targets. They took the CIA website offline. They also hacked the PlayStation Network in 2011. They even attacked news companies. One leader was a man named Sabu. He helped pick which sites to attack. Later, he worked with the FBI. He helped the police find other members. Many members were arrested in 2012. Some members used a botnet to attack sites. A botnet is a group of many computers used together. This group also helped start Operation AntiSec. This was a way to protest how the government uses the internet.
